Gymnastics

Leanne Wong turned senior in 2019, and moved up to the senior national team from junior, making her senior international debut at the American Cup with teammate, Grace McCallum, and took home the all-around gold in that competition. She has beautiful flexibility, and is very strong on the uneven bars and vault, but is definitely a strong all-around gymnast.

Some highlights from her career on the national team are:

• Member of the gold medal winning team at the Pan Am Games in 2019

• Won all-around gold at the American Cup in 2019

• Awarded the silver medal on uneven bars at the Pan Am Games in 2019

• As a junior in 2018, won all-around gold at the US Classic and the US National Championships

Personal

Leanne Wong was born on September 20, 2003 in Kansas City, MO. She has two younger brothers who are also athletes, but she is the only gymnast. Before becoming involved in gymnastics, Wong took ice skating classes. When asked how she began the sport, she stated,

"My dad wanted me to be an ice skater but I didn't enjoy falling on hard ice and decided to do gymnastics and really loved it."

In addition to gymnastics, Leanne likes to play piano, go biking, cooking, riding roller coasters, and shopping. Her favorite music is Christian Soft Rock.

She does not have a favorite apparatus, and says that her favorite part of gymnastics is competing and learning new skills.

Wong will graduate from Blue Valley High in 2021.
