Gymnastics
Kayla DiCello (pronounced di-SELL-o) aged into senior in 2020, joining the senior Women's National Team that year. She made her senior debut at the American Cup in Milwaukee with teammate, Morgan Hurd. Kayla finished second all-around behind Hurd. Though her senior year hasn't seen much action, she was one of the top juniors in the country in 2018 and 2019, and was labelled as one to watch going into the race for Tokyo.
Some of her gymnastics highlights include:
• Gold medalist on vault at the Junior Worlds Championships
• Member of the 2018 Junior Pac Rim gold medal winning team, also taking individual gold on vault and uneven bars
• 2019 Junior National Champion
• 2019 gold medalist for vault and floor at the US Junior National Championships
Personal
Kayla was born on January 25, 2004 and resides in Boyds, MD with her parents, two sisters, and her brother. Her sisters are also gymnasts, and her brother plays baseball. She started her gymnastics career at the age of 2 in the mommy and me class at Hill's Gymnastics, where she still trains. Her favorite apparatus is the uneven bars and she enjoys learning new skills.
When Kayla is not training, she attends Northwest High School and will graduate in 2022. She loves watching Grey's Anatomy and Friends, listens to country music, and her favorite food is steak.
She will join teammates Morgan Hurd and Riley McKusker at the University of Florida, arriving a year later in 2022. Kayla will be on athletic scholarship, joining the women's gymnastics team.
